We apologize for the poor quality of this picture

Dear friends,

Many of you have followed the rebirth of The Loka Senior Secondary School ( The Nugent School) with us for many years. GRN continues to press on in this very challenging, yet life changing project. Currently we are renovating two dormitories, but the greatest need we have is that of spiritual awakening.

For many years, this part of Sudan was a hub of spiritual activity. Those days have long past and the need for revival is critical. We are praying that the school will be a light house for the gospel and a launching pad for missionaries that will carry Jesus to this war torn country and around the world. We are asking God for Spirit filled leaders to arise from the ashes and take hope to the cities, towns, villages, and bush land of this great country.

Many people died as martyrs in Sudan as they proclaimed the name of Jesus to their own countrymen. We have personally met scores of people in Sudan who have lost loved ones due to preaching the gospel. Our desire is to see a generation rise up and take the place of these courageous saints.

Would you please stand with us as we believe God for an outpouring of His Spirit upon the students and teachers at the Loka Senior Secondary School?

Thank you!

Please Pray…

We would like to ask everyone to please pray for GRN team member, Dickson Mutiso. As many of you know, Dickson is overseeing the rebuilding of the Loka Senior Secondary School in Sudan. Dickson has malaria. We have not heard back from him for several days and it has us a bit worried about his condition. Thank you for standing with us.

Sudan School Update…

As many of you are aware, GRN is renovating the second largest school ever built in Southern Sudan. The project has been very challenging and at the same time very rewarding. Currently hundreds of children are enrolled in the Loka Senior Secondary School and are receiving quality education on a daily basis.

Our latest task has been the rebuilding of one of the many dormitories located on the campus. This marks a new phase of this project which will include a boarding program. The school is highly regarded as one of the best schools and draws students from various locations in Southern Sudan, which requires them to find lodging. Some of the students walk as far as fourteen miles per day to attend classes, yet that is seen as acceptable and is considered “local” for those students.

Since the peace treaty was signed between the North and the South in 2005, many Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have come to help rebuild Southern Sudan. With this influx of NGOs comes a challenge to find necessary supplies to renovate the school. Because of the supply and demand issue, the cost of everything has skyrocketed. For example, a 2×4x10 piece of wood used to cost us approximately $4.00 (This lumber is cut by hand). Now the same piece of wood, if you can find it, is roughly $8.00. In some cases, items are as much as ten times what they used to be when we started the renovation process. Thanks to the faithful friends of GRN, the work hasn’t slowed down.

Please pray for us as we continue to rebuild this historic school, which, to the people of Loka is a beacon of hope for generations to come.

Please Pray For Sudan.

I would like to ask you to please pray for Sudan. Since the peace agreement was signed in January 2005, the country has experienced relative peace, but there are still many mental, emotional, and spiritual wounds that need to be healed.

Please take a moment and ask God to awaken Sudan spiritually and to heal them emotionally. Also, please remember GRN as we continue to rebuild the Loka Senior Secondary School in Loka, Sudan. Every day hundreds of kids attend this school in hopes of a brighter future.

Thank you!
